A default MOICA usage is for a period of five years with an applicable extension of three years, making the longest effective date to be eight years. It had been the practice for people to go to the household administration office to apply for the extension before Oct. 1, 2014, when then and onward, people might do it online 60 days prior to the expiration date of their MOICA.. Afterward, they will receive the new card in the mail.
